Does hail always mean I need a new roof?
- No. A few bruised or missing shingles can often be repaired. If hail marked most of the roof, or the roof was already worn out, a full replacement usually makes more sense. We inspect first and put that in writing. Your insurance company decides what they pay.
Who decides if insurance will pay?
- Your insurance company. We inspect the roof, write down what we see, and estimate the work. The carrier reads the policy and decides coverage and payment.
How can I tell hail damage from wind damage on a roof?
- Hail bruises or cracks the shingle face and often dents vents and gutter lips. Wind creases, lifts, or peels tabs. The same storm can do both. Stay off the roof and ask us to inspect the slopes.
Can ice dams happen in Illinois and Missouri, not just Minnesota?
- Yes. Minnesota winters show ice dams most clearly. Naperville and Chesterfield see them after wet freeze-thaw storms. Kansas and Charlotte get ice less often, but a hard freeze after wet snow still happens.
Does every hail storm in Wichita mean a new roof?
- No. Sedgwick County sees hail often. Isolated bruises or a few missing shingles can stay a repair. Damage across most of the roof, or a roof that was already worn out, usually means replacement. We inspect first.
